T G Jackson was one of the most prolific and talented architects of his day. He was a pupil of Sir George Gilbert Scott, establishing his own architectural practice in 1862, and went on to design many collegiate and school buildings, public schools, chapels and churches, in addition to restoring many other houses and churches. One of his best known works is the Bridge of Sighs at Oxford University. He was a supporter of the Arts & Crafts movement, friend of William Morris and many of the Pre-Raphaelite painters of the day, including the architect Norman Shaw.
