Summary Description

Whitford is an area rich in archaeological features including Maen Achwyfan – a monolithic stone cross of c1000 bearing Scandinavian and Celtic motifs. Garreg Tower was built in C17 as a beacon against pirate raids. The area is also pitted with remnants of C18 and C19 lead workings. Reference The Encyclopaedia of Wales
