Summary Description

Penarth is a satellite town to Cardiff clearly visible across Cardiff bay. It developed largely as a coal port begun in 18549 by the Taff Vale Railway. Then under the patronage of the local land owner the town developed as a retirement community for sea captains, colliery owners and business men. Now very much a dormitory settlement to Cardiff.
