Goetre Fawr lies between Pontypool and the Usk in the rich farming lands south of Abergavenny. There is a wharf on the Brecon and Monmouth Canal with well restored features including the wharf, an aqueduct and a limekiln. Reference The Encyclopaedia of Wales
